Effective today, the CHRP has officially become the CPHR - Chartered Professional in Human Resources. Messages were sent to our members this afternoon outlining the details.
CPHR - The Mark of an HR Professional

HRANS is a founding member of The Chartered Professionals in Human Resources (CPHR) Canada. CPHR Canada is a collaborative effort of human resources associations from across Canada. They are the national voice on the enhancement and promotion of the profession across Canada, through established and credible designations, collaborating on national issues related to the profession, leading federal government relations, and proactively positioning the national human resources agenda at the international level.
CPHR holders are required to recertify every three (3) years to maintain the CPHR designation. More..
Become a CPHR
The process to obtain your CPHR Designation through HRANS is as follows:
Step 1: Be a HRANS member in good standing.
Step 2: Register for the National Knowledge Exam™ and agree to the CPHR Code of Ethics (you will be prompted when you register for the exam).
Step 3: Pass the National Knowledge Exam™ (NKE). Certification candidates may only proceed to Step 4 once they have received confirmation that they have passed the NKE.
Step 4: Provide confirmation of a minimum of a Bachelors Degree before applying to meet the Experience Requirement.
Step 5: Successfully meet the Experience Requirement.
Certification candidates (those that have completed Step 3 by passing the NKE) have seven (7) years to complete the certification process by providing confirmation of a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree and successfully meeting the Experience Requirement.
Important Note: Individuals obtain/retain the CPHR in the province in which they work. If an individual is not working in NS or PEI, they should be pursuing the CPHR in the province where they are working. At present, members of HRANS do not have an academic or experience pre-requisite to write the National Knowledge Exam™ (NKE).
Experience Requirement - Final Step to Obtain CPHR
The CPHR designation requires an experience requirement as the final step in the certification process. The CPHR Experience Requirement is a formal step in earning one's CPHR designation, requiring candidates to demonstrate three or more years of professional experience in human resources within the last ten years.
